I booked a bunch of lessons from Alexandre Dinnerstein, and I've been taking them at a rate of about one per month. He's very helpful at seeing the wider perspective problems of my game play. I can recommend his teaching which is normally done over KGS. Incidentally, his family name in Russian means "slim stone". How cool is that for a Go player!? Reminds me of my metalwork teacher Mr Bolt (I kid not). Anyway, I digress...
One lesson he said 'Let's play Rengo', and I thought "cool!" Little did I realise that about a 100 people would be watching the game! It was a great game and we won by about 10 points - I guess I had a big advantage :-) He picked a couple of strong opponents though. Here is a position from the game which feature my favourite move:
Here were some comments about this move: "Hactar [3d]: oh wow", "TKo [1d?]: nice heavy move".
In a later lesson Breakfast made some comments by way of a brief review. Here is the SGF file of the game + review if you're interested:
Rengo with Breakfast, Oame&Meuns
What was really insane is that I had to deal with Dynorod during this who'd come around to unblock a drain - this included talking to the bloke about rodding the drain and writing a cheque - all with byo-yomi ticking!
